Stations of the Cross
A Lenten Opportunity

Stations of the Cross is a devotion to the Passion of Christ which recalls a series of events at the end of Jesus' life from his condemnation to his burial. The Stations of the Cross imitates the practice of visiting the places of Jesus' Passion in the Holy Land by early Christian pilgrims. The first stations outside Palestine were built in Bologna in the fifth century. This devotion was encouraged by the Franciscans, and it became common in the fifteenth century. The number of stations for prayer and meditation in the Stations of the Cross has varied, but it typically includes fourteen stations. Each station may have a cross and an artistic representation of the scene. The stations may be erected inside a church or outdoors.
You may have noticed the new stations that were donated by the
Daughters of the King in the church on its side walls.
We will be gathering on Fridays at 5pm in Lent to walk the Stations. There will be leaflets provided to guide you. We will be calling upon different ministries to lead a Friday in Lent beginning with Friday, March 7th after Ash Wednesday.
The final Friday will be April 11th and then we will also have stations
available Good Friday, April 18th in Holy Week at 10am.
Please joins us for this journey with Jesus. It will deepen your Lenten
Journey.
Faithfully,
Mother Celeste+
